Introduction
Muscular Dystrophies
Muscular dystrophies are degenerative muscular diseases. They cannot be treated until now and lead to the loss of gait.
But conditions like heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or intensive care can also be associated with a rapid destruction of muscle mass. The causes are currently unknown und the consequences very often outlive the primary disease for many years. In funding the CRG 192/0, the German Research Foundation (DFG) facilitates a clinical research group of the Charité and of the Max-Delbrueck-Centre, who will investigate how muscular growth is being regulated and why muscles waste.
